Auf nach Kanada
15.4.2008 - 28.4.2008Vacation with my parents
I will write this chapter in English in honour of Lucille and Bill, friends of mine I met in Canmore. They became an important part of my time there.
After my parents arrived we stayed the first 5 days in Canmore, my hometown for the last 6 month, so that we could explore the area from there, driving around in our car.
We've made a wonderful ice canyon walk on our first day, hiking with spikes under our shoes on the ice.
In the afternoon we made a trip to Banff.
Although it was already the middle of April we still had a lot of snow...
On your way in the Canadian Rockies you can always see big horn sheep on the side of the streets.
The other day we made a dogsled tour but as I have already written about that a couple of times I will skip this part.
For our day trip in the Kananaskis Country we changed our planes from hiking to snowshoeing due to a lot of snow. It was a beautiful landscape and a lot of fun.
Didn't know it so far but Canada seems to have their own Mt. Everest (or it's just a very long trail).
After a few very nice days in and around Canmore we started our road trip to Vancouver over Jasper and through some of the most beautiful National Parks Canadas. Here just a few pics from our our trip.
The one night we stayed in a very nice hotel, placed directly on a lake in the beautiful mountains.
In this area, the snow was still really high.
We've also been in Hell's Gate, a place at the Fraser Canyon, where you can go over the Fraser River with an airtram. Just like these guys:
Or you can walk over this bridge:
After a 5 days road trip we finally arrived Vancouver, where I spend three more days with my parents before they left.
I am now spending my last two month in Vancouver working on boots.
See you soon!
