4 Andenlaender in 4 Monaten

Mission Trekking impossible! Ich habe in Mendoza einen Tag vergeblich Trekking Fuehrer oder Karten gesucht - kein Erfolg.
Also hab ich mich nach Barreal aufgemacht in der San Juan Provinz. Das liegt malerisch im Talkessel Valle Calingasta und ist eigentlich ein guter Ausgangspunkt, um in die Berge zu kommen. Das Tal ist flankiert von einer Bergkette mit 7 peaks jenseits der 6000. Der hoechste dieser Cordillera ist der Cerro Mercedario mit 6770m. In der Ferne gruesst auch der Aconagua - mit 6962m der hoechste Suedamerikas.
Zugegeben, es ist grad keine Saison sondern Fruehlingsbeginn und der Plan, das Base Camp vom Aconagua zu besuchen scheitert schon daran, dass der Nationalpark zu ist...
Das ich selber nicht in die Cordillera Calingasta gehen kann, hab ich schnell begriffen - aber ich habe in Barreal keinen Guide gefunden! Die waren alle im Urlaub und ich weit und breit der einzige Tourist...
Auch ohne Trekkingtour hab ich die Szenerie und die Ruhe der Landschaft geniessen koennen, Tagestouren gemacht, den nahen Nationalpark El Leoncito erkundet und eine Privatfuehrung durch das dortige Observatorium bekommen.

So I started out to Barreal in the San Juan province. The village is picturelike located in the valley Valle Calingasta and is normally a good basement to explore the mountains. The valley is flanked by a mountain chain with 7 peaks above the 6000. The highest of this Cordillera is the Mercedario with 6770m. In the distance the Aconagua greets too - with 6962m the highest in South America.
Admitting there is no saison at the moment but the beginning of spring and the plan hiking to the base camp of Aconagua failed already given the fact that the national park is closed down...
I recognized rapidly not going by myself to the Cordillera Calingasta - but I didnt find a guide in Barreal! All the guides were on holiday and I was the single tourist far and wide...
But also without a trekking tour I was able enjoying the scenary and the calmness of the landscape, making day trips around, exploring the close national park El Leoncito and getting a private guidance in the observatory.
